As a wardrobe stylist, I care more about listening to the needs of each client and helping them to embody the personality they want to become. The clothing you wear is such a huge reflection of how you feel about yourself. I will help you look (and in turn feel) more comfortable and confident in yourself by helping you achieve a more positive relationship with your second skin – your clothing! Not only will you have a better functioning and easier to navigate wardrobe, but you will also gain useful skills in how to shop, how to dress your body shape and skin tone, and how to making smarter choices when getting dressed in the morning.
You’d be amazed at the peace and clarity that come along with knowing how to put together outfits for yourself that make you feel amazing, and how much less stressful your days become. After our time together, you will open up your closet and feel organized, refreshed, and ready to tackle your day like never before! More than just helping you look good (that is just the icing on the cake!), I am here to help you cultivate your best self by starting with your appearance and helping you connect that to how your clothes affect your mental state. My honesty, knowledge, and patience provide a platform for you to dig deeper in yourself to figure out exactly how you want to present yourself to the world and let your limitless beauty shine. Also – I will clean and organize your closet like a motherfucker 😉
There really is no “average” budget because everyone has different style goals and needs, so it really depends on what you’re looking for. Most of the one time services are between $150 – $350, while the complete transformation package is the most expansive because it is at least 3 different appointments plus 1 or 2 shopping trips. After a closet cleanse, some people find that they need a lot of new items to complete their wardrobe, while some people have a lot of great base pieces and only need a few things here. Just let me know what you’re comfortable with spending (within realistic terms) and we can work with that.
Welcome to the world of almost all of my clients! Most of the time, people get overwhelmed by too many options and underwhelmed by the uninspiring selection when they go out looking for new things to wear. Part of the reason many people hate shopping is because when you don’t know how to choose the most flattering, attractive pieces for yourself, your shopping trips will never be that rewarding for you and you’ll buy things you don’t love that you never end up wearing anyways.
Unfortunately, you can’t avoid the “trying on” part. Rest assured, however, when you shop with me, a good chunk of what you try on in the dressing room will look great on you AND I will take things on and off the hangers for you! Something I hear every time I go shopping with people is “I would have NEVER picked this out for myself but I LOVE it!” This is the best part of my job – I was able to find something my client loves and will get years of use out of, and I also opened up their eyes to new and exciting possibilities.
Knowing how clothes are supposed to be cut and fit your body type will massively change your ability to choose pieces and will take a lot of the stress away. You might find that you actually enjoy shopping once you figure out the correct cuts, colors, patterns, and styles that work best for you. The reality is – the things we love most on the hangers are not always the things that work best on us for a variety of reasons. With me there to help you choose things you actually need, and explain why something works for your body, you will be able to enjoy better results at the end of your future shopping trips with or without me!
Since this is all about you, there is no such thing as “if I were you I’d do this” because I am not you! I will get a very good sense for what your current style is from looking at your closet, but often times people come to me because they are in a rut and they feel that their clothes are not presenting the correct personality they are looking for. When we are shopping, I already know what you have in your wardrobe since we will have just cleaned your closet, and I know what will look good on your since I have seen the way a lot of those clothes fit you (there is a lot of trying things on during the closet cleanse, too). I only shop for things that I think will fit into your life, your style, and flatter your figure. I might push the boundaries of what you think you like and I will encourage you to try something new or wouldn’t select for yourself in the past, but I will always choose stuff with the new you in mind. And of course – there is never an obligation to buy anything.
I take cash, check, or credit card in person, or paypal. Service packages can be broken down into separate payments, and I am flexible about working with monthly payment plans for the complete transformation since that is such an extensive and expensive service including all the new things you end up needing to buy. Just let me know what you need and we’ll figure it out – I would much rather help you sooner and have you pay on a payment plan than wait till you save up all the money. The sooner we can get your wardrobe sorted out and having you feeling like your most beautiful and confident self, the better!
No. I sometimes know the shop owners / salespeople because I see them all the time, but I don’t financially benefit from anything you purchase. I will shop with you anywhere you want and would never encourage you to buy something that wasn’t perfect for you and your wardrobe.
Believe it or not, I get a lot of my stuff second hand, too! You don’t have to spend a fortune to look good, you just need to know what you are looking for and be honest with yourself about if something is right for you – no matter how inexpensive it is. Buffalo Exchange is great because we can sell your clothes there after the closet cleanse so you might get some trade money for new (used) clothes and that always helps. Having a personal stylist is just about having someone there to help you make good decisions about what to buy, and giving you tips about how to wear your pieces – not about going on break-the-bank shopping sprees at the mall.
It depends on what you would have to offer as a trade, but I occasionally trade for yoga, massage, acupuncture, clothing alterations or local farmers market goodies. It depends on my current work schedule and need, but I am certainly open to it given the right circumstance.
