I mentioned to her the catastrophic fatigue I felt with my career and the desire to “be inspired”. She said (very bluntly, as she tends to do) “You need to have your closet redone”. At the time, I was not certain how sorting through physical garments of clothing would ever impact or influence my internal connection to the creative life force, but, I went for it. I. Was. Changed. Forever.
First, I stripped down to my bra and underwear and sat in a puddle of insecurity, apprehension and cellulite. She opened my closet and immediately asked me “Why are you not wearing all of this color?”. I, someone that feels most comfortable in subdued and earthen tones of brown and black had a closet FILLED with bright green, pink, yellow and purple… yet, I was too afraid to wear any of it. Over the next 5 hours we figured out that I was afraid to be beautiful and draw attention, I was still wounded from my childhood relationship to my sisters and I was like a pair of bright pink leggings that was pretending to be a brown sweatshirt.
“How do you want to feel?”. It’s something Corinne asked me a lot and it echoed through my head as I let go of 1/2 of my closet that day. My career? I dumped the album I had been working on for 2 years and am now working on music that is more theatrical, daring and makes me “feel” really inspired. Thank you Corinne. I love you. I think you have SO much to offer this world and I pray that you never give up. I am writing this while wearing a fabulous and bright chartreuse sweater of cashmere.
Flash forward – I’ve booked Corinne for 3 shopping trips and to be perfectly honest – I barely shop for myself anymore. It’s just so much easier when she is with me. Second appointment was a focus on pants and I have a closet full of interchangeable tops and bottoms now. Third appointment was a focus on cute date clothes. The fourth appointment (and probably the hardest) was a request for summer work clothes. My closet seriously kills now. People ask for my advice on fashion. Coworkers compliment me. I get ready in the morning faster. I have a higher quality of life. Period. That’s really it. Her work affects my life in a positive manner everyday. Everyone deserves to be happy with their appearance. THANK YOU SO MUCH CORINNE.
I previously believed the reason my wardrobe stunk was due to a lack of taste and money. Turns out it was due to a poor body image. I hadn’t even thought about the fact or questioned why my closet was full of dark, baggy clothing and overly modest dresses until Corinne pointed out that I was trying to hide myself. Instead of the usual reassurances we are accustomed to hearing when complaining about ourselves (“But you’re sooo skinny!”), Corinne asked me who or what I thought formed those negative opinions of my body and challenged their validity. It’s funny processing the past and saying things out loud for the first time to someone who is actually listening—you realize you’ve been manifesting someone else’s ideas instead of your own.
We ultimately decided that I wanted to look like a woman and not a bag. Every piece of clothing was questioned in the mirror: “Does this girl look like a great artist or performer?” We donated at least five bags of old clothes that did not meet the standard, and I was left with my favorite, most beautiful items—half of which still had price tags attached! I was too afraid to wear them before, but Corinne coached me in how to style my most expressive pieces with the right basics to create flattering, yet stylish outfits. She completely reorganized my clothes and accessories, introducing me to the concept that anything that does not serve you in a positive manner is in your way. Now my morning routine is streamlined and much quicker without all the obstacles and frustration.
I was hoping to form a new perspective of myself by changing the way I dress, and I am well in route. Once I started accepting myself enough to be unafraid of other’s opinions, I opened a new door of confidence. I love leaving my home feeling like my personality is shining bright, and in return, people react to me with a brand new respect and delight. Corinne is not only a talented stylist and designer, but an inspirational support to get moving and grow!
With Corinne’s sharp eye for detail and knack for style on my side, I was able to see clearly that so much of my clothing was no longer serving me and then, most importantly, to throw it out. The dress I’d had since high school that I wore out of habit. Gone. Those uncomfortable shoes. Gone. All the mediocre things I rarely wore or never wore at all. Gone. We got rid of 12+ bags of clothes, and I’ve never missed any of them! Corinne also reorganized my closet for smoother functioning, and wrote a detailed list of the exact items needed to complete my closet set up and wardrobe. I felt so inspired by the energy of my newly cleared out closet that I went on to purge and sort my entire house!
Corinne didn’t try to impose her style on me, she gave me tools to refine and elevate my own style. Conversations with Corinne have helped me to dress for all occasions in a way that feels fabulously me. I don’t know a single person who wouldn’t benefit from a closet session with Corinne.
Corinne helped me pick out some awesome new pants, and fill in the basics I needed more of. With a few slinky, cropped black tops and about 6 pairs of new pants, I completely transformed my wardrobe into wearables that made me feel sexy, sophisticated, artsy and stylish without breaking the bank. When I get dressed now there is a sense of confidence, freedom of options, variety, and because we tried so much on, I have a better idea of what clothes work with my curvy body. Now I feel sexy but not suggestive in my clothing, and notice that people treat me more professionally because I’m slightly more put together. I loved how Corinne customized everything to fit my body, showed me how to flaunt my curvy hips with high waisted bottoms and crop tops, accentuating the parts of my body that are most flattering. We talked about how to add volume and texture to balance an outfit. Her tips and feedback went a long way! She even helped me prepare outfits for city living in winter and summer, Thailand traveling, and how to pack for weekend trips. Corinne has a one of a kind aesthetic eye, and her skills of customizing each persons style to their bodies and goals makes this service even better! Highly recommended for anyone.
I probably haven’t cried in a dressing room since I was fourteen, but anyone who hasn’t been completely enchanted with their own body throughout life can relate to the sinking feelings that go with seeing yourself not look the way you want to when trying on clothes that don’t flatter. The dread of going out to buy new things had me holding on to clothes that weren’t doing me any favors. But knowing that didn’t make any difference.
What HAS made a difference is getting clear about what was in the way of my style coming through, and getting rid of it! And then, through my conversation with Corinne, discovering what clothes look amazing on me, how to find and buy them, and understanding WHY THEY WORK. It’s not like a makeup artist comes and makes you fabulous for one day—it’s like someone comes and trains you to do your own makeup excellently. Suddenly I have moved from a world of ‘clothes-scarcity’ to ‘clothes-abundance’. I let go of sixty percent of my wardrobe in a single afternoon, and have twice as much to wear now as I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m confident and excited about managing and adding to my new collection.
After shopping and working with Corinne, it’s a different WORLD. I look at the things in my closet and love the way I look in ALL of them. I’m excited to go in there, and even happier to leave so I can go show off my new self. My old favorites now actually have pieces that go with them, everything is flattering, and there’s a wide range of possibilities for every day.
Corinne is a brilliant and original designer. It’s hard to say whether she’s more artist or personal empowerment coach, because these two abilities coexist so naturally in her character. When we did our ‘wardrobe interview’, she was able to quickly grasp and articulate nuances in my style and taste and use them to suggest new choices. They are choices that weren’t even available to me before because I wouldn’t have been able to see them. . . and they are simply gorgeous.
In comes style guru, Corinne. First things first, she got to know me, my style, dislikes, and focused on what I felt good in. This was KEY. I felt like she understood the vibe I hoped to express through my clothing and accessories, which is super important to me. We went through EVERYTHING I owned, implemented a clear system for organization in the closet and set off to add a few key pieces that would work with my current threads. She kept my budget in mind and my closet now has everything it needs to complete the looks I was going for but couldn’t quite execute before Corinne came over. I’m back to being psyched about building outfits, able to transition outfits throughout the day more smoothly, and totally inspired by her clear and creative tools for building outfits… I feel confident to choose the right pieces when I go shopping on my own. No more buying something rad but not having anything to wear WITH it. And I’m even keeping my closet clean!
Corinne’s services are truly a game changer and I believe anyone who needs some organization or inspiration can benefit from her keen eye and intelligent styling. Bravo!
